Marine Gold Coast CURRENT ISSUES Manufacturers Division: Marine Gold Coast is actively supporting and facilitating the creation of a manufacturer’s division that will address issues of local, national and international concern. These include the adoption of and compliance with nationally recognised manufacturing standards, the use of hull identification numbers, compliance with various state government transport and towing regulations. Accreditation Programs: Marine Gold Coast is supporting Marine Queensland’s initiatives to introduce accreditation programs for boat retailers, brokers and builders. Accreditation will involve adherence to agreed industry standards and compliance with agreed codes of practise and will improve consumer confidence when dealing with accredited members. Boat Club: Marine Queensland’s Boat Club is an exceptional membership-based consumer program that will undoubtedly assist in the industry’s on-going development. Marine Gold Coast is actively supporting this initiative. Register of Encumbered Vessels: With compulsory hull identification numbers linked to vessel registration it will be possible to introduce a national register of encumbered vessels. This will ensure that ownership entitlement can be safely passed from one boat owner to another without the risk of having a second hand boat repossessed due to prior financial encumbrances. Waterways Maintenance Program: Marine Gold Coast is actively working with the Queensland government to develop a long term, economically sustainable management program that will facilitate maintenance dredging and continued development of the Gold Coast’s rivers, canals and waterways. | ![]() ![]() |
